Rotherham Scouts need volunteers!

Rotherham Scouts Media and Communications Development Team

In order to bring the best possible continuity to the services we offer in Media and Communications we are looking for some great people to join the District Team and strengthen our existing small team.

We would welcome anybody who would like to support us – we are looking for people who can fill these specific key roles:

Web Content Co-ordinator:
Responsible for ensuring the details on the District Website are up to date and information regarding events, activities &c is processed efficiently. They will need regular access to email as the vast majority of the work is done by email. They will NOT need to be able to create web pages themselves as we have somebody in place to do this – however if they can – this would be an added advantage.

E-bulletin Administrator:
With access to email and the web we are looking for somebody who will be able to take information given to them via the Commissioners and input this into the District Mail Chimp programme for circulation to every adult in Rotherham. They system used is Mail Chimp so knowledge of this system would be good – however we could train anybody who is interested in this role providing they have a basic knowledge of HTML production.

Event Reporters and Photographers:
We are looking for as many people as possible to take on this role throughout the District. This would interest somebody who is into photography and who would be willing to attend Group events to take pictures for Press and Web inclusion and for Promotional materials and E-bulletins. They would need to make notes of what is happening at the event – our Media Manager could then generate great news reports for the Press.

Social Media Moderator:
This person would play a key role in managing the contact on our Facebook and Twitter sites. They would need to pay close attention to any content posted on by others on these sites to ensure they are in line with the instructions given in POR and also to check regularly the National and County sites to enable us to re-post information that is of interest to the District.

Marketing Manager:
We are looking for an “out of box” thinker to take on this role. We would like somebody to look at opportunities around the Borough to lift the visibility of Scouting. This would include looking into ideas like the current project running in the town centre shop fronts. We would also like to get coverage on bus stops, train stations &c.  Some of the work this person would be involved in would involve areas of Rotherham currently not covered by Scouting reaching out to the Community.

Anybody interested in any of these roles – or in joining the team in any way – can get more information by contacting Mat Beesley via email on mat.beesley@rotherhamscouts.org or via phone 07955566313
