Outreach Programmes at Sheffield University



ADOPT
A two year programme for AS level students wanting to enter any aspect of Dentistry.
Students who complete the two year programme will be guaranteed an interview for an appropriate course subject to meeting the minimum academic criteria.
During their two years they will see what it's like to work in dentistry, with the emphasis on hands-on activities and student interaction.
Student eligibility may include:
- Being the First generation of their immediate family to study at University.
- Few young people from the area where they live enter University.
- Personal circumstances make it more difficult for them to go to University.
SOAMS
For students looking to enter a career in Medicine.
Students who complete the scheme are guaranteed an interview for an offer to study Medicine at the University of Sheffield. However students must have completed all the SOAMS activities and have achieved four AS Levels at BBCC, including Chemistry and another science or Maths.
 If students pass their interview they will be made a conditional offer to study Medicine at Sheffield, providing they achieve the A Level results required by the Medical School.
Discover STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths)
An opportunity for students studying Maths and Science AS and A levels to find out more about the range of different Science, Maths and Engineering Degrees and Careers available.
Designed to support students whose family or personal circumstances mean they may not have considered a career in Science or Engineering as a possibility.
Discover Art and Humanities
A two year programme for AS level students. The aim is to encourage students from backgrounds that are under-represented in higher education to study at University. The University provides support and guidance through a range of exciting activities including subject taster sessions.
Subjects include:
Archaeology, English, History, Languages, Music, Philosophy/Religion, Theology, the Bible.

Discover Law
A two year programme of events offering students lots of opportunities to explore the study of law.  You get the chance to:
- Experience real life cases in one of the Sheffield Law Courts and talk to a Judge
- Meet working professionals and ask them how they got where they are
- Get expert guidance on applying to university
- Experience law taster sessions and team building activities
Discover Social Sciences
A programme that provides opportunities to study of lots of Social Science subjects, such as,  Politics, Geography and Sociology and get help and support with study skills and the UCAS application.
The programme is targeted at students whose family or personal circumstances indicate they are under-represented in Higher Education.
